I had a very exciting and busy week at IMM Cologne, an annual international interiors show held in Cologne, Germany. Every year, the fair showcases the new and upcoming trends from the world’s top furniture and interior design companies that will shape the industry.
The fair is massive! Top furniture and design companies from around the world participate every year, and this year alone, there were over 100,000 pieces of furniture and furnishing items presented!
As a global leader in the industry, Ekornes presented some exciting new products. Our team spent nearly 5 months preparing and designing an Ekornes showroom to highlight our brand’s passion for detail, our commitment to innovative solutions and our Scandinavian design heritage.
Ekornes at IMM Cologne
Participating in the IMM Cologne fair was a great opportunity for Ekornes to inspire and show people around the world our brand and how magnificent it is! Our showcase spanned 600 square meters and featured our new stylish additions to the E-Series lineup, the E400 and E700, new pieces to the Stressless®You collection and the new Ekornes Lounge collection.
The new E400 and E700 feature sleek and modern designs, and, like every sofa in the E-Series, our new additions include our ErgoAdapt system, a built-in tilting mechanism that allows the sofa to automatically adjust to your body for both optimal support and unparalleled comfort.
Our Stressless sofas are highly customizable, and at the IMM Cologne fair, we introduced even more personalization options! We debuted seven new fabric options and 11 new leather colors for 2017. We really started the year with a lot of energy and a lot of wonderful colors!
Style Trends for 2017
As the most important furnishing show in the world, IMM Cologne is the perfect place to get a sense of what stylish trends are coming in 2017 and beyond.
As I looked around, I noticed a lot of velvet and soft fabrics. This year’s fabric colors were magnificent! Here are some of the most notable colors I saw on display: grey, beige, brown, pink, light blue, yellow, red, henna and green.
For leather, there were a lot of nice colors in the grey and brown scale, and some designers used brighter colors that pop!
Walnut and oak were popular wood colors at the fair, but there was also a lot of marble and stone tables with nice shades as well.
I hope that these style trends will inspire each of you to explore and use more color in your own designs!
