Summer Color Mix

Summer is here, and it’s a great time to freshen the look of your neutral sofas and seating with pillows and throws, area rugs, wall paint, and a few well-placed decorative accents. These are the types of items that can be collected throughout your travels any month of the year. When the season is right, simply bring out your finds!

But what colors can you try now (and keep collecting) that will still be on trend next year? Here are two directions to consider, depending on what moves you.

Wanting a boost? Bring playful hues filled with energy and a spirit of adventure to your home this summer and enjoy them into the fall and beyond. As you travel, collect a rich color palette that reminds you of your trips to food and spice markets — lemon, lime, chili, saffron, mango, papaya. Pick up fabrics along your journey with saturated, deep colors to add later in the year, mixed with flashes of exotic hues and patterns.

Or, if you want to calm things down, look for almost any shade of blue that settles your soul and puts you on an island all your own. Create an oasis inside with blue shades ranging from crisp and clear, to soft greys and violets, plus taupes, cloud whites and monastery grey. Accent with a touch of yellow this summer, then earthy Moroccan red sandstone in the fall.

Playful or calm, here’s wishing you a wonderful summer—and happy travels!
