Reconnecting to Fitness by Connecting to Group Fitness
After New Year’s Day, many people are eager to keep up their New Year’s fitness resolution. They enroll in gym memberships, build workouts into their schedule and buy new activewear, but by as early as February, most of us have given up on our resolutions. Luckily, there’s one simple thing that can make keeping your resolution easier: working out with a group.
This year, reconnect to fitness by connecting to group fitness!
Get Motivated
Working out with a group — no matter what kind of workout you’re doing — is essential to keeping up with your resolutions because you don’t have to rely on your willpower alone to go to the gym. Some people can self-start, but most of us need a buddy to keep up with our fitness routine. Find a friend or two to help motivate you, and make going to the gym a fun social event that you look forward to.
Find Fitness Buddies
Not sure how to begin your group fitness plan? Contact your gym and see if they have group classes, and try to make friends with some of the people in the group. Join a running or hiking club or take a class at your local gym. Being part of an established group is a great way to meet new people and keep your New Year’s fitness resolution!
Create Your Own Group
If you’d rather create your own group, call on your friends, family, neighbors or even coworkers. Your group can create its own routine or find one online — if you haven’t worked out in a while, consider starting with a 4-week beginner’s workout routine. The other members of your group might even choose workouts that you wouldn’t normally pick, pushing you out of your comfort zone and closer to your health goals.
Keeping up with your New Year’s fitness resolution doesn’t have to be a chore. With a group of friends, it can be a lot of fun!
